God's Word

The king of Israel told Jehoshaphat, “We can ask the Lord through Micaiah, son of Imla, but I hate him. Nothing he prophesies about me is good; it’s always evil.” Jehoshaphat answered, “The king must not say that.”

Micaiah answered, “I solemnly swear, as the Lord lives, I will tell him whatever my God says to me.”

But Jehoshaphat asked, “Isn’t there a prophet of the Lord whom we could ask?”

The king of Israel called for an officer and said, “Quick! ⌞Get⌟ Micaiah, son of Imla!”

Evil will kill wicked people, and those who hate righteous people will be condemned.

because my enemy shouts at me and a wicked person persecutes me. They bring misery crashing down on me, and they attack me out of anger.

Rescue me from the mud. Do not let me sink ⌞into it⌟. I want to be rescued from those who hate me and from the deep water.

⌞Like⌟ a gold ring and a fine gold ornament, ⌞so⌟ is constructive criticism to the ear of one who listens.

Bloodthirsty people hate an innocent person, but decent people seek ⌞to protect⌟ his life.

Do not warn a mocker, or he will hate you. Warn a wise person, and he will love you.

They say to the seers, ‘Don’t see ⌞the future⌟.’ They say to those who have visions, ‘Don’t have visions that tell us what is right. Tell us what we want to hear. See illusions.

Then they said, “Let’s plot against Jeremiah, because the teachings of the priests, the advice of wise people, and the word of the prophets won’t disappear. Accuse him! Pay no attention to anything he says.”

Then the officials said to the king, “Have this man put to death. He discourages the soldiers who are left in this city and all the people by telling them such things. This man is not trying to help these people; he’s trying to hurt them.”

Israel, you hate anyone who speaks out against injustice. You are disgusted by anyone who speaks the truth.

Should the descendants of Jacob be asked: Has the Spirit of the Lord become impatient with you? Has he done these things? Are his words good for those who live honestly?

Immediately, the king sent a guard and ordered him to bring John’s head. The guard cut off John’s head in prison.

Blessed are you when people hate you, avoid you, insult you, and slander you because you are committed to the Son of Man.

If I hadn’t done among them what no one else has done, they wouldn’t have any sin. But now they have seen and hated both me and my Father.

The world cannot hate you, but it hates me because I say that what everyone does is evil.

Can it be that I have become your enemy for telling you the truth?
