Don’t neglect the gift which you received through prophecy when the spiritual leaders  placed their hands on you ⌞to ordain you⌟.

The disciples did this and sent their contribution with Barnabas and Saul to the leaders ⌞in Jerusalem⌟.

After fasting and praying, Simeon, Lucius, and Manaen placed their hands on Barnabas and Saul, and released them ⌞from their work in Antioch⌟.

When Paul placed his hands on them, the Holy Spirit came to them, and they began to talk in other languages and to speak what God had revealed.

The chief priest and the entire council of our leaders can prove that I did this. In fact, they even gave me letters to take to the Jewish community in the city of Damascus. I was going there to tie up believers and bring them back to Jerusalem to punish them.

The disciples had these men stand in front of the apostles, who prayed and placed their hands on these seven men.

Then Peter and John placed their hands on them, and the Samaritans received the Holy Spirit.

Don’t put out the Spirit’s fire.

Timothy, my child, I’m giving you this order about the prophecies that are still coming to you: Use these prophecies in faith and with a clear conscience to fight this noble war.

Practice these things. Devote your life to them so that everyone can see your progress.

Give double honor to spiritual leaders  who handle their duties well. This is especially true if they work hard at teaching God’s word.

Don’t pay attention to an accusation against a spiritual leader unless it is supported by two or three witnesses.

Don’t be in a hurry to place your hands on anyone ⌞to ordain him⌟. Don’t participate in the sins of others. Keep yourself morally pure.

Fight the good fight for the Christian faith. Take hold of everlasting life to which you were called and about which you made a good testimony in front of many witnesses.

You received a gift from God when I placed my hands on you ⌞to ordain you⌟. Now I’m reminding you to fan that gift into flames.
