Why should you be as stubborn as the Egyptians and their Pharaoh were? After he toyed with the Egyptians, didn’t they send the Israelites on their way?

“God is wise in heart and mighty in power. Who could oppose him and win?

“Do not be stubborn like ⌞my people were⌟ at Meribah, like the time at Massah in the desert.

So Moses and Aaron went to Pharaoh and said to him, “This is what the Lord God of the Hebrews says: How long will you refuse to humble yourself in my presence? Let my people go to worship me.

I am making the Egyptians so stubborn that they will follow the Israelites. I will receive honor because of what I will do to Pharaoh, his entire army, his chariots, and cavalry.

The Egyptians pursued them, and all Pharaoh’s horses, chariots, and cavalry followed them into the sea.

The Lord said to Moses, “When you get back to Egypt, see that you show Pharaoh all the amazing things that I have given you the power to do. But I will make him stubborn so that he will not let the people go.

Yet, Pharaoh continued to be stubborn and would not listen to them, as the Lord had predicted.

Then the Lord said to Moses, “Pharaoh is being stubborn. He refuses to let my people go.

When Pharaoh saw that the plague was over, he became stubborn and would not listen to Moses and Aaron, as the Lord had predicted.

Yet, this time, too, Pharaoh was stubborn and did not let the people go.

But I have spared you for this reason. I want to show you my power and make my name famous throughout the earth.

When Pharaoh saw that the rain, the hail, and the thunder had stopped, he sinned again. He and his officials continued to be stubborn.

Since you are stubborn and don’t want to change the way you think and act, you are adding to the anger that God will have against you on that day when God vents his anger. At that time God will reveal that his decisions are fair.

Encourage each other every day while you have the opportunity. If you do this, none of you will be deceived by sin and become stubborn.
