We are proud that our conscience is clear. We are proud of the way that we have lived in this world. We have lived with a God-given holiness  and sincerity, especially toward you. It was not by human wisdom that we have lived but by God’s kindness.

Since the Lord did all this, he knows how to rescue godly people when they are tested. He also knows how to hold immoral people for punishment on the day of judgment.

Dear friends, if our conscience doesn’t condemn us, we can boldly look to God

Here I am. Testify against me in front of the Lord and in front of his anointed king. Did I take anyone’s ox? Did I take anyone’s donkey? Did I cheat or oppress anyone? Did I take a bribe from anyone to look the other way? ⌞If so,⌟ I will give it all back.”

Saul told his son Jonathan and all his officers to kill David. But Saul’s son Jonathan was very fond of David,

David escaped and went to Samuel at Ramah. He told Samuel everything Saul had done to him. Then he and Samuel went to the pastures and lived there.

Jonathan answered, “That’s unthinkable! You’re not going to die! My father does nothing without telling me, whether it’s important or not. Why should my father hide this from me? It’s just not that way.”

Jonathan asked his father, “Why should he be killed? What has he done?”

My master, look at this! The border of your robe is in my hand! Since I cut off the border of your robe and didn’t kill you, you should know and be able to see I mean no harm or rebellion. I haven’t sinned against you, but you are trying to ambush me in order to take my life.

May the Lord decide between you and me. May the Lord take revenge on you for what you did to me. However, I will not lay a hand on you.

He told David, “You are more righteous than I. You treated me well while I treated you badly.

David asked Saul, “Why do you listen to rumors that I am trying to harm you?

“Why are you pursuing me?” he added. “What have I done? What crime have I committed?
