Saul tried to nail David to the wall with his spear. But David dodged it, and Saul’s spear struck the wall. David fled, escaping ⌞from Saul⌟ that night.

Saul raised his spear to strike him. Then Jonathan knew his father was determined to kill David.

He raised the spear and thought, “I’ll nail David to the wall.” But David got away from him twice.

No wisdom, no understanding, and no advice ⌞can stand up⌟ against the Lord.

The Jews tried to arrest Jesus again, but he got away from them.

But Jesus walked right by them and went away.

So when they persecute you in one city, flee to another. I can guarantee this truth: Before you have gone through every city in Israel, the Son of Man will come.

The righteous person has many troubles, but the Lord rescues him from all of them.

He rescued me from my strong enemy and from those who hated me, because they were too strong for me.

Saul listened to Jonathan, and he promised, “I solemnly swear, as the Lord lives, he will not be killed.”

The next day an evil spirit from God seized Saul. He began to prophesy in his house while David strummed a tune on the lyre as he did every day. Now, Saul had a spear in his hand.

The wicked person watches the righteous person and seeks to kill him.
