Then all the troops went to Gilgal, and there in the Lord’s presence, they confirmed Saul as their king. There they sacrificed fellowship offerings to the Lord. Saul and all of Israel’s soldiers celebrated.

The king came back to the Jordan River, and the people of Judah came to Gilgal to meet the king and bring him across the Jordan River.

Then he sent young Israelite men, and they sacrificed bulls as burnt offerings and fellowship offerings to the Lord.

However, you brag because you’re arrogant. All such bragging is evil.

Samuel called the people to ⌞come into the presence of⌟ the Lord at Mizpah.

Samuel asked the people, “Do you see whom the Lord has chosen? There is no one like him among all the people.” Then all the people shouted, “Long live the king!”

Go ahead of me to Gilgal. Then I will come to sacrifice burnt offerings and make fellowship offerings. Wait seven days until I come to tell you what to do.”

Then Samuel said to all Israel, “I have listened to everything you have said to me and appointed a king over you.

Isn’t the wheat being harvested today? I will call on the Lord, and he’ll send thunder and rain. Then you will realize what a wicked thing you did in the Lord’s presence when you asked for a king.”

But the people refused to listen to Samuel. They said, “No, we want a king!
