Solomon began to build the Lord’s temple 480 years after Israel left Egypt. He began building in the month of Ziv (the second month) of the fourth year of his reign over Israel.

The temple that King Solomon built for the Lord was 90 feet long, 30 feet wide, and 45 feet high.

In the month of Ziv of the fourth year of Solomon’s reign, the foundation of the Lord’s temple was laid.

Make my son Solomon completely committed ⌞to you⌟ so that he will obey your commands, requests, and laws and do everything to build the palace I have planned.”

Johanan was the father of Azariah. (He was the one who served as priest in the temple Solomon built in Jerusalem.)

This is how Solomon laid the foundation to build God’s temple. It was 90 feet long and 30 feet wide. (They used the old standard measurement.)

This was their reply to us: “We are the servants of the God of heaven and earth. We are rebuilding the temple that was originally built many years ago by a great king of Israel.

He built his holy place to be like the high heavens, like the earth which he made to last for a long time.

After exactly 430 years all the Lord’s people left Egypt in organized family groups.

That very day the Lord brought all the Israelites out of Egypt in organized family groups.

Then the man brought me into the holy place in the temple and measured the recessed walls. They were 10½ feet wide on each side.

“Go to the mountains, get lumber, and build the house. I will be pleased with it, and I will be honored,” declares the Lord.

Those who are far away will come and rebuild the Lord’s temple. Then you will know the Lord of Armies has sent me to you. This will happen if you obey the Lord your God completely.’ ”

The Lord spoke to Moses in the tent of meeting in the Desert of Sinai. It was the first day of the second month in the second year after leaving Egypt. He said,

Then he destroyed seven nations in Canaan and gave their land to his people as an inheritance.

But Solomon was the one who built a house for God.

Don’t you know that your body is a temple that belongs to the Holy Spirit? The Holy Spirit, whom you received from God, lives in you. You don’t belong to yourselves.

Can God’s temple contain false gods? Clearly, we are the temple of the living God. As God said, “I will live and walk among them. I will be their God, and they will be my people.”

Sink your roots in him and build on him. Be strengthened by the faith that you were taught, and overflow with thanksgiving.

Abraham was waiting for the city that God had designed and built, the city with permanent foundations.

But Christ came as a chief priest of the good things that are now here. Christ went through a better, more perfect tent that was not made by human hands and that is not part of this created world.

You come to him as living stones, a spiritual house that is being built into a holy priesthood. So offer spiritual sacrifices that God accepts through Jesus Christ.

Israel has now lived in Heshbon, Aroer, all their villages, and in all the cities along the Arnon River for 300 years. Why didn’t you recapture these cities during that time?
