My workers will bring logs from Lebanon to the sea, and I will have them make them into rafts to go by sea to any place you specify. There I will have them taken apart, and you can use them. You can pay me by providing food for my palace.”

Judah and Israel traded with you. They exchanged wheat from Minnith, baked goods, honey, olive oil, and balsam for your goods.

So they gave money to the stonecutters and carpenters. Then they gave food, drink, and olive oil to the men from Sidon and Tyre in exchange for cedar, which the men would bring by sea from Lebanon to Joppa as King Cyrus of Persia had authorized them to do.

Herod was very angry with the people of Tyre and Sidon. They were going to meet with Herod. They had agreed on what they wanted to do: They enlisted the help of Blastus to ask Herod for terms of peace. This was because their cities depended on Herod for their food supply. (Blastus was in charge of the king’s living quarters.)

We will cut all the lumber you need in Lebanon. Then we will make rafts out of it and send them to you in Joppa by sea. You can take it ⌞from there⌟ to Jerusalem.”

The king made silver and gold as common in Jerusalem as stones, and he made cedars as plentiful as fig trees in the foothills.

Please let me go over and see the beautiful land on the other side of the Jordan River—those beautiful mountains in Lebanon.”

Hiram sent men to Solomon to say, “I’ve received the message you sent me. I will do everything you want in regard to the cedar and cypress logs.

So Hiram gave Solomon all the cedar and cypress wood he wanted.

The people of Judah and Israel were as numerous as the sand on the seashore. They ate and drank and lived happily.

In wealth and wisdom King Solomon was greater than all the ⌞other⌟ kings of the world.

However, there is in humans a Spirit, the breath of the Almighty, that gives them understanding.

I thought to myself, “I have grown wiser than anyone who ⌞has ruled⌟ Jerusalem before me. I’ve had a lot of experience with wisdom and knowledge.”
