He went after the man of God and found him sitting under an oak tree. The old prophet asked him, “Are you the man of God who came from Judah?” “Yes,” he answered.

They arrived in Canaan, and Abram traveled through the land to the oak tree belonging to Moreh at Shechem. At that time the Canaanites were in the land.

The old prophet told his sons, “Saddle the donkey for me.” After they had saddled the donkey for him, he got on it.

“Come home with me, and eat a meal,” the old prophet replied.

Then he traveled through the wilderness for a day. He sat down under a broom plant and wanted to die. “I’ve had enough now, Lord,” he said. “Take my life! I’m no better than my ancestors.”

Jesus told them, “My food is to do what the one who sent me wants me to do and to finish the work he has given me.

Jacob’s Well was there. Jesus sat down by the well because he was tired from traveling. The time was about noon.

Because I’ve had to work so hard, I’ve often gone without sleep, been hungry and thirsty, and gone without food and without proper clothes during cold weather.
