King Solomon sent men to take him from the altar. Adonijah bowed down in front of King Solomon. “Go home,” Solomon told him.

On the third day a man came from Saul’s camp. His clothes were torn, and he had dirt on his head. When he came to David, he immediately bowed down with his face touching the ground.

But the king said, “Absalom should return to his own house. He will not see me.” So Absalom returned to his house and didn’t see the king.

Absalom stayed in Jerusalem two full years without seeing the king.

Joab went to the king and told him this. The king then called for Absalom, who came to the king and bowed down with his face touching the ground. And the king kissed Absalom.

Bathsheba knelt and bowed down in front of the king. “What do you want?” the king asked.

Then Bathsheba bowed down with her face touching the ground in front of the king. “May Your Majesty, King David, live forever!” she said.

Solomon said, “If he will behave like an honorable man, not one hair on his head will fall to the ground. But if he does ⌞anything⌟ wrong, he will die.”

When David was about to die, he instructed his son Solomon,

The king summoned Shimei and said to him, “Build a house for yourself in Jerusalem, and stay there. Don’t leave ⌞the city⌟ to go anywhere else.

Fear the Lord, my son. Fear the king as well. Do not associate with those who always insist upon change,
