Bathsheba went to the king in his private room. The king was very old, and Abishag from Shunem was taking care of him.

“Sir,” she answered, “You took an oath to the Lord your God. You said that my son Solomon will be king after you, and that he will sit on your throne.

Later, David got up, left the cave, and called to Saul, “Your Majesty!” When Saul looked back, David knelt down with his face touching the ground.

When Abigail saw David, she quickly got down from her donkey. She immediately bowed down in front of David with her face touching the ground.
