If we say, “We have never sinned,” we turn God into a liar and his Word is not in us.

If we say, “We aren’t sinful” we are deceiving ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

Those who believe in the Son of God have the testimony of God in them. Those who don’t believe God have made God a liar. They haven’t believed the testimony that God has given about his Son.

The person who says, “I know him,” but doesn’t obey his commandments is a liar. The truth isn’t in that person.

We love you because of the truth which lives in us and will be with us forever.

O Lord, who would be able to stand if you kept a record of sins?

I’ve written to you, children, because you know the Father. I’ve written to you, fathers, because you know Christ, who has existed from the beginning. I’ve written to you, young people, because you are strong and God’s word lives in you. You have won the victory over the evil one.

“If it isn’t so, who can prove I’m a liar and show that my words are worthless?”

Let Christ’s word with all its wisdom and richness live in you. Use psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs to teach and instruct yourselves about ⌞God’s⌟ kindness. Sing to God in your hearts.

Dear children, you belong to God. So you have won the victory over these people, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.

Why should a mortal be considered faultless or someone born of a woman be considered righteous?

In spite of all this you say, ‘I’m innocent. God will turn his anger from me, because I haven’t sinned.’

I have accepted what that person said, and I have affirmed that God is truthful.
