We wear ourselves out doing physical labor. When people verbally abuse us, we bless them. When people persecute us, we endure it.

“Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you, lie, and say all kinds of evil things about you because of me.

But I tell you this: Love your enemies, and pray for those who persecute you.

Then Jesus said, “Father, forgive them. They don’t know what they’re doing.” Meanwhile, the soldiers divided his clothes among themselves by throwing dice.

Bless those who curse you. Pray for those who insult you.

Remember what I told you: ‘A servant isn’t greater than his master.’ If they persecuted me, they will also persecute you. If they did what I said, they will also do what you say.

and because they made tents for a living as he did, he stayed with them and they worked together.

You know that I worked to support myself and those who were with me.

Then he knelt down and shouted, “Lord, don’t hold this sin against them.” After he had said this, he died.

Bless those who persecute you. Bless them, and don’t curse them.

But, “If your enemy is hungry, feed him. If he is thirsty, give him a drink. If you do this, you will make him feel guilty and ashamed.”

What will separate us from the love Christ has for us? Can trouble, distress, persecution, hunger, nakedness, danger, or violent death separate us from his love?

Or is it only Barnabas and I who don’t have any rights, except to find work to support ourselves?

I robbed other churches by taking pay from them to serve you.

Thieves must quit stealing and, instead, they must work hard. They should do something good with their hands so that they’ll have something to share with those in need.

You remember, brothers and sisters, our work and what we did to earn a living. We worked night and day so that we could bring you the Good News of God without being a burden to any of you.

We didn’t eat anyone’s food without paying for it. Instead, we worked hard and struggled night and day in order not to be a burden to any of you.

Certainly, we work hard and struggle to live a godly life, because we place our confidence in the living God. He is the Savior of all people, especially of those who believe.

Christ never verbally abused those who verbally abused him. When he suffered, he didn’t make any threats but left everything to the one who judges fairly.

But even if you suffer for doing what God approves, you are blessed. Don’t be afraid of those who want to harm you. Don’t get upset.

Don’t pay people back with evil for the evil they do to you, or ridicule those who ridicule you. Instead, bless them, because you were called to inherit a blessing.

Those who suffer because that is God’s will for them must entrust themselves to a faithful creator and continue to do what is good.

When the archangel Michael argued with the devil, they were arguing over the body of Moses. But Michael didn’t dare to hand down a judgment against the devil. Instead, Michael said, “May the Lord reprimand you!”
