When supper was over, he did the same with the cup. He said, “This cup is the new promise  made with my blood. Every time you drink from it, do it to remember me.”

Moses took half of the blood and put it into bowls, and he threw the other half against the altar.

Moses took the blood and sprinkled it on the people and said, “Here is the blood which seals the promise that the Lord has made to you based on everything you have just heard.”

“The days are coming,” declares the Lord, “when I will make a new promise  to Israel and Judah.

When supper was over, he did the same with the cup. He said, “This cup that is poured out for you is the new promise  made with my blood.”

When we bless the cup of blessing aren’t we sharing in the blood of Christ? When we break the bread aren’t we sharing in the body of Christ?

and spoke a prayer of thanksgiving. He broke the bread and said, “This is my body, which is given for you. Do this to remember me.”

However, their minds became closed. In fact, to this day the same veil is still there when they read the Old Testament. It isn’t removed, because only Christ can remove it.

He has also qualified us to be ministers of a new promise, a spiritual promise, not a written one. Clearly, what was written brings death, but the Spirit brings life.

The God of peace brought the great shepherd of the sheep, our Lord Jesus, back to life through the blood of an eternal promise.
