They trust their riches and brag about their abundant wealth.

Can an ax attack the person who cuts with it? Can a saw make itself greater than the person who saws with it? A rod cannot move the person who lifts it. A wooden stick cannot pick up a person.

This is what the Lord says: Don’t let wise people brag about their wisdom. Don’t let strong people brag about their strength. Don’t let rich people brag about their riches.

So Christ Jesus gives me the right to brag about what I’m doing for God.

We know that whatever the Scriptures say applies to everyone under their influence, and no one can say a thing. The whole world is brought under the judgment of God.

So, do we have anything to brag about? Bragging has been eliminated. On what basis was it eliminated? On the basis of our own efforts? No, indeed! Rather, it is eliminated on the basis of faith.

If Abraham had God’s approval because of something he did, he would have had a reason to brag. But he could not brag to God about it.

As Scripture says, “Whoever brags must brag about what the Lord has done.”

Who says that you are any better than other people? What do you have that wasn’t given to you? If you were given what you have, why are you bragging as if it weren’t a gift?

It’s not good for you to brag. Don’t you know that a little yeast spreads through the whole batch of dough?

It’s not the result of anything you’ve done, so no one can brag about it.
