The men chosen to be gatekeepers at the entrances totaled 212. Their genealogies were recorded in their villages. David and the seer  Samuel appointed them to these positions because they were trustworthy.

He determined the divisions of priests and Levites. He planned all the work done for worship in the Lord’s temple. He designed all the utensils for worship in the Lord’s temple.

Here are also the divisions of the priests and Levites for every type of worship in God’s temple. You have with you every skilled worker to do all the work. In addition, all the leaders and people are at your command.”

Everything about King David from first to last is written in the records of the seer  Samuel, the prophet Nathan, and the seer Gad.

Obadiah (son of Shemaiah, grandson of Galal, and great-grandson of Jeduthun), and Berechiah (son of Asa and grandson of Elkanah, who lived in the villages belonging to the Netophathites).

So they and their descendants were assigned to be gatekeepers for the Lord’s house, that is, the tent.

Mattithiah, a Levite, the firstborn son of Shallum, Korah’s descendant, was entrusted with preparing the flat bread.

Jehoiada appointed gatekeepers for the gates of the Lord’s temple so that no one who was unclean  for any reason could enter.

Eden, Miniamin, Jeshua, Shemaiah, Amariah, and Shecaniah served under him in the cities belonging to the priests. They were to distribute the offerings faithfully to all their relatives, young and old, by their divisions.

The priests and Levites were enrolled with their wives, sons, daughters, and other people who depended on them—the whole community. The priests and Levites had to be faithful in keeping themselves holy for the holy work.

Some divisions of Levites in Judah were assigned to Benjamin.

On that day men were put in charge of the storerooms for the contributions, the first produce harvested, and a tenth of the people’s money. They stored in those rooms the gifts designated by Moses’ Teachings for the priests and Levites from the fields around the cities. The people of Judah were pleased with the ministry of the priests and Levites.
