and received help while fighting them. Hagar’s descendants and the nations with them were handed over to Reuben’s descendants. They had called out to God during the battle, and he answered their prayers because they trusted him.

Isaac prayed to the Lord for his wife because she was childless. The Lord answered his prayer, and his wife Rebekah became pregnant.

God helped him when he attacked the Philistines, the Arabs who lived in Gur Baal, and the Meunites.

He prayed to the Lord, and the Lord accepted his prayer and listened to his request. The Lord brought him back to his kingdom in Jerusalem. Then Manasseh knew that the Lord is God.

So we fasted and asked our God for a safe journey, and he answered our prayer.

The victory for righteous people comes from the Lord. He is their fortress in times of trouble.

The Lord helps them and rescues them. He rescues them from wicked people. He saves them because they have taken refuge in him.

God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in times of trouble.

Those who know your name trust you, O Lord, because you have never deserted those who seek your help.

As long as Moses held up his hands, Israel would win, but as soon as he put his hands down, the Amalekites would start to win.

A person’s fear sets a trap ⌞for him⌟, but one who trusts the Lord is safe.

I will certainly rescue you. You will not die in war. You will escape with your life because you trusted me, declares the Lord.’ ”

The king was overjoyed and had Daniel taken out of the den. When Daniel was taken out of the den, people saw that he was completely unharmed because he trusted his God.

The Lord is good. ⌞He is⌟ a fortress in the day of trouble. He knows those who seek shelter in him.

He planned all of this so that we who had already focused our hope on Christ would praise him and give him glory.

Never before or after this day was there anything like it. The Lord did what a man told him to do, because the Lord fought for Israel.

Joshua captured all these kings and their territories in one campaign because the Lord God of Israel fought for Israel.

One of you used to chase a thousand. That was because the Lord your God was fighting for you, as he had promised you.

Then Saul sent the messengers back to see David themselves. Saul told them, “Bring him here to me in his bed so that I can kill him.”

Then Samuel took a rock and set it up between Mizpah and Shen. He named it Ebenezer [Rock of Help] and said, “Until now the Lord has helped us.”
