All of these soldiers, who were prepared for battle, came with a single purpose to Hebron—to make David king of all Israel. The rest of Israel also had agreed to make David king.

He put troops in Edom, and all its people became David’s subjects. Everywhere David went, the Lord gave him victories.

Zeruiah’s son Joab was in charge of the army. Ahilud’s son Jehoshaphat was the royal historian.

David, son of Jesse, had ruled all Israel.

O God, give the king your justice and the king’s son  your righteousness

Righteousness and justice are the foundations of your throne. Mercy and truth stand in front of you.

His government and peace will have unlimited growth. He will establish David’s throne and kingdom. He will uphold it with justice and righteousness now and forever. The Lord of Armies is determined to do this!

Do you think you’re a better king than others because you use more cedar? Your father ate and drank and did what is fair and right. Everything went well for him.

In those days and at that time, I will cause a righteous branch to spring up for David. He will do what is fair and right in the land.
