God's Word

Who is like your people Israel? It is the one nation on earth that God came to free in order to make its people his own, to make your name known, and to do great and wonderful things for them. You forced the nations and their gods out of the way of your people, whom you freed from Egypt.

“Lord, there is no one like you, and there is no other god except you, as we have heard with our own ears.

You made the people of Israel to be your people forever. And you, Lord, became their God.

You performed miraculous signs and did amazing things to Pharaoh and all his servants and all the people in his land because you knew how arrogantly they were treating our ancestors. You made a name for yourself, a name which remains to this day.

Let the people the Lord defended repeat these words. They are the people he defended from the power of their enemies

He has sent salvation to his people. He has ordered that his promise should continue forever. His name is holy and terrifying.

He has done nothing like this for any other nation. The other nations do not know the decisions he has handed down. Hallelujah!

“Tell the Israelites, ‘I am the Lord. I will bring you out from under the oppression of the Egyptians, and I will free you from slavery. I will rescue you with my powerful arm and with mighty acts of judgment.

For my name’s sake I’ll be patient. For my glory’s sake I’ll hold my anger back from you, rather than destroy you.

Where is the one who sent his powerful arm to support the right hand of Moses? Where is the one who divided the water in front of them to make an everlasting name for himself?

In all their troubles he was troubled, and he was the Messenger who saved them. In his love and compassion he reclaimed them. He always held them and carried them in the past.

When you did awe-inspiring things that we didn’t expect, you came down and the mountains quaked in your presence.

You brought your people from Egypt with miraculous signs and amazing things, with a mighty hand and a powerful arm, and with great terror.

Remember that you were slaves in Egypt and the Lord your God freed you. That’s why I’m giving you this command today.

What great nation ever had their gods as near to them as the Lord our God is near to us whenever we pray to him?

He gave himself for us to set us free from every sin and to cleanse us so that we can be his special people who are enthusiastic about doing good things.

Joshua captured all these kings and their territories in one campaign because the Lord God of Israel fought for Israel.
