God's Word

When David was living in his house, he said to the prophet Nathan, “I’m living in a house made of cedar, while the ark of the Lord’s promise is inside a tent.”

So the Lord sent Nathan to David. Nathan came to him and said, “There were two men in a certain city. One was rich, and the other was poor.

and sent a message through the prophet Nathan to name the baby Jedidiah [The Lord’s Beloved].

The men carrying the ark set it in its place inside the tent David had put up for it. David sacrificed burnt offerings and fellowship offerings in the Lord’s presence.

The king has sent the priest Zadok, the prophet Nathan, Benaiah (son of Jehoiada), the Cherethites, and the Pelethites with him. They have put him on the king’s mule.

But the priest Zadok, Benaiah (son of Jehoiada), the prophet Nathan, Shimei, Rei, and David’s ⌞thirty⌟ fighting men did not join Adonijah.

“My father David had his heart set on building a temple for the name of the Lord God of Israel.

King Hiram of Tyre sent messengers to David, along with cedarwood, masons, and carpenters to build a palace for David.

After David constructed buildings for himself in the City of David, he prepared a place for God’s ark and set up a tent for it.

The men carrying the ark set it inside the tent David had put up for it. They presented burnt offerings and fellowship offerings in God’s presence.

Nathan told David, “Do everything you have in mind, because God is with you.”

I haven’t lived in a house from the day I brought Israel out ⌞of Egypt⌟ to this day, but I’ve gone from tent site to tent site, moving the tent ⌞of meeting⌟ from one location ⌞to another⌟.

He summoned his son Solomon and commanded him to build a temple for the Lord God of Israel.

David told his son Solomon, “I had my heart set on building a temple for the name of the Lord, my God.

David stood in front of them and said, “Listen to me, my relatives and subjects. I had my heart set on building the temple where the ark of the Lord’s promise could be placed. This temple would be a stool for our God’s feet, and I have made preparations to build it.

Everything about King David from first to last is written in the records of the seer  Samuel, the prophet Nathan, and the seer Gad.

(However, David had ⌞already⌟ brought God’s ark from Kiriath Jearim to a place he had prepared for it. He had put up a tent for it in Jerusalem.)

until I find a place for the Lord, a dwelling place for the Mighty One of Jacob.”

⌞The Lord continued,⌟ “Make the inner tent with ten sheets made from fine linen yarn. Take violet, purple, and bright red yarn, and creatively work an angel  design into the fabric.

Do you think you’re a better king than others because you use more cedar? Your father ate and drank and did what is fair and right. Everything went well for him.

I, Nebuchadnezzar, was living comfortably at home. I was prosperous while living in my palace.

“Is it time for you to live in your paneled houses while this house lies in ruins?

“You expected a lot, but you received a little. When you bring something home, I blow it away. Why?” declares the Lord of Armies. “It’s because my house lies in ruins while each of you is busy working on your own house.

who won God’s favor. David asked that he might provide a permanent place for the family of Jacob.
