God's Word

So David ⌞and his men⌟ attacked and defeated the Philistines at Baal Perazim. David said, “Using my power like an overwhelming flood, God has overwhelmed my enemies.” That is why they call that place Baal Perazim [The Lord Overwhelms].

So David went to Baal Perazim and defeated the Philistines there. He said, “The Lord has overwhelmed my enemies in front of me like an overwhelming flood.” That is why that place is called Baal Perazim [The Lord Overwhelms].

David asked God, “Should I attack the Philistines? Will you hand them over to me?” The Lord answered him, “Attack! I will hand them over to you.”

The Philistines left their gods there, so David ordered that the gods be burned.

They come through a wide hole ⌞in the wall⌟. They crawl through the ruins.

Thank the Lord, my rock, who trained my hands to fight and my fingers to do battle,

You are the one who gives victory to kings. You are the one who snatches your servant David away from a deadly sword.

It was not with their swords that they took possession of the land. They did not gain victory with their own strength. It was your right hand, your arm, and the light of your presence ⌞that did it⌟, because you were pleased with them.

The water flowed back and covered Pharaoh’s entire army, as well as the chariots and the cavalry that had followed Israel into the sea. Not one of them survived.

The Lord will rise as he did on Mount Perazim. He will wake up as he did in Gibeon Valley. He will do his work, his unexpected work, and perform his deeds, his mysterious deeds.

Rain poured, and floods came. Winds blew and struck that house. It collapsed, and the result was a total disaster.”
