Years later, the king of Egypt died. But the Israelites were still groaning under their hard labor. Their cries for help because of their hardship reached God.

People despised him and rejected him. He was a man who really suffered and who experienced the deepest pain. We treated him like someone you turn away from in disgust—we despised him and had no respect for him.

With compassion Jesus reached out and touched the man, and said, “I am willing. Be healed!”

At three o'clock Jesus cried out, “Eloi, Eloi, lama sabachthani,” which means, “My God, my God, why have you abandoned me?”

Taking the little girl's hand he said, “Talitha koum,” which means, “Little girl, get up!”

Then he took the five loaves and the two fish. Looking up to heaven he blessed the food and broke the bread into pieces. Then he handed the bread to the disciples to give to the people, and he divided the fish up between all of them.

The man's ears were opened, his speech impediment was gone, and he began speaking properly.

Jesus sighed deeply, and asked, “Why do you people want a sign? I tell you the truth: I will not give you a sign.”

“Then see!” Jesus told him. “Your trust in me has healed you.”

But as he got closer, he saw the city and wept over it.

Jesus went over to the coffin and touched it, and the pall-bearers stopped. Jesus said, “Young man, I tell you, get up.”

When Jesus saw her crying, and the Jews who had come with her crying as well, he was very troubled and upset.

Very troubled, Jesus went to the tomb. It was a cave with a large stone placed at the entrance.

So they removed the stone. Jesus looked heavenwards, and said, “Father, thank you for listening to me.

After saying this, Jesus shouted, “Lazarus, come out!”

When Jesus finished saying this he looked up to heaven and said, “Father, the time has come. Glorify your Son so that the Son may glorify you.

Peter told him, “Aeneas, Jesus Christ heals you! Get up and pick up your mat!” Immediately Aeneas got up.

Peter told them all to leave, kneeled down, and prayed. He turned to the body and said, “Tabitha, get up.” She opened her eyes, and when she saw Peter she sat up.

For the high priest we have isn't one who doesn't sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who was tempted in all the ways we are, but did not sin.
