You know the commandments: do not commit adultery, do not murder, do not steal, do not give false testimony, honor your father and mother.”
Go and examine God's law and his instructions! If what they say doesn't correspond with God's word, there will be no dawn for them.
“Why do you call me good?” Jesus replied. “No one is good, only God.
“I've kept all these commandments since I was young,” the man replied.
“You must not commit adultery, you must not kill, you must not steal, you must not jealously want things for yourself”—these and the other commandments are summed up in the statement, “Love your neighbor as yourself.”
For no one is made right before God by doing what the law requires. The law only helps us recognize what sin really is.
“Honor your father and mother.” This is the first commandment that has a promise attached:
You children, always do what your parents tell you because this is what pleases the Lord.
