Joshua 24:32

The bones of Joseph, which the Israelites had brought with them from Egypt, they buried in Shechem in the piece of ground Jacob had bought from the sons of Hamor, the father of Shechem, for one hundred pieces of silver. This land was inherited by Joseph's sons.

He bought the plot of ground where he was camping from the sons of Hamor, the founder of Shechem, for 100 pieces of money.

I'm also giving you something in addition to what I'm giving your brothers—the piece of land on the mountain slope of Shechem that I took from the Amorites with my sword and bow.”

“I'm going to die soon,” Joseph told his brothers, “but God will be with you, and he will lead you out of this country to the land that he swore to give to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.”

Joseph made the sons of Israel swear an oath, saying, “When God comes to be with you, you must take my bones with you when you leave.”

Moses carried Joseph's bones with him because Joseph had made the sons of Israel swear a solemn promise, saying, “God will definitely take care of you, and then you must take my bones with you when you leave here.”

So he came to the Samaritan city of Sychar, near to the field that Jacob had given his son Joseph.

Jacob traveled to Egypt, and died there—as did our forefathers.

Their bodies were brought back to Shechem and placed in the tomb that Abraham had bought with silver from the sons of Hamor in Shechem.

Trusting in God, Joseph too, when his own death approached, spoke about the exodus of the Israelites, and gave instructions about what to do with his bones.
