He named the place “Bethel,” (previously it was called Luz).

When David arrived at the top of the Mount of Olives, where people worshiped God, there to meet him was Hushai the Archite, with his robe torn and with dust on his head.

David's friend Hushai arrived back in Jerusalem at the same time Absalom was entering the city.

Hushai the Archite, David's friend, went to see Absalom and declared, “Long live the king! Long live the king!”

Ahithophel was the king's counselor and Hushai the Archite was the king's friend.

The land they owned and the places they lived included Bethel and nearby towns, from Naaran to the east to Gezer and its towns to the west, and Shechem and its towns up to Ayyah and its towns.

Then the boundary went south to Luz (or Bethel) and on down to Ataroth-addar on the mountain south of Lower Beth-horon.
