and traveled another day's journey into the desert. He sat down under a broom tree and asked to die. “I've had enough now, Lord,” he said. “Take my life! I'm no better than my forefathers.”

A good reputation is better than expensive perfume, and the day you die is better than the day you were born.

Don't be quick to get angry, for anger controls the minds of fools.

Those who are left of this evil family will prefer to die rather than live in every place I've scattered them, declares the Lord Almighty.

But I have not made use of any of these provisions, and I'm not writing about this to suggest it should be done in my case. I'd rather die than to have anyone take away my pride in not having received any benefit.
