Saul was afraid of David, because the Lord was with David, but he had given up on Saul.

David became increasingly powerful, for the Lord God Almighty was with him.

The Lord supported Jehoshaphat because he followed the ways of his father David. He did not believe in the Baals,

Don't expel me from your presence; don't take away your Holy Spirit from me.

Samuel did what the Lord had told him to and went to Bethlehem. When the town elders met him, they were afraid and asked him, “Do you come in peace?”

When Saul saw how successful David was, he was even more afraid of him.

Meanwhile Saul's daughter Michal had fallen in love with David, and when Saul was told, he was happy about it.

and so he became even more afraid of David, and was David's enemy for the rest of his life.

But if my father plans to do you harm, then may the Lord punish me very severely, if I don't let you know by sending you a message so you can get away safely. May the Lord be with you, just as he was with my father.

“Why have you and the son of Jesse plotted against me? You gave him bread and a sword, and asked advice from God for him so that he could rebel against me and try and kill me, which is what he's doing right now!”

Samuel said to Saul, “Why are you bothering me by bringing me up?” “I'm in terrible trouble,” Saul replied. “The Philistines are attacking me, and God has abandoned me. He doesn't answer me anymore, either by prophets or by dreams. That's why I have called you up so you tell me what to do.”

Samuel continued to grow up. The Lord was with him and made sure all he said was trustworthy.
