What can we say about this? We are saying that the Outside Nations found good standing in the eyes of the Great Spirit even though they did not follow our tribal law. Instead, they trusted in what Creator has done.

To be in full harmony with the Chosen One is my desire. I do not want to gain my own good standing with Creator by keeping tribal law but by trusting in the Chosen One. This good standing comes from the Great Spirit by trusting in what he has done, not what I can do.

Because he trusted the One Above Us All, One Who Rests (Noah) took to heart the warning given to him by the Great Spirit and made a great wooden canoe for the safety of his family. By trusting he showed the world how terrible their ways had become. By trusting he took his place among those who, by trusting, share in the blessing of good standing with Creator.

But we who follow the Chosen One know that working hard to keep our tribal law does not put us in good standing with Creator. For good standing comes through trusting in what Creator Sets Free (Jesus) the Chosen One has done. As Tribal Members we have put our trust in him, so that our good standing comes from trusting in the Chosen One and not by working hard to keep our tribal law. For no human being will be put in good standing with Creator by working hard to keep the law.

He was given the cutting of the flesh ceremony to mark him as Creator’s own, as a sign that he had already put his trust in the Great Spirit and that he was in good standing even before he performed the ceremony. This means Father of Many Nations (Abraham), just as his name says, is the ancestor of all the Outside Nations who believe and trust in the Great Spirit. Even though they have never performed the ceremony, they are now in good standing with Creator.

You Outside Nations did not share in the promises or the peace treaty that the Great Spirit made with those tribes. You were out from under their special care and protection—unaware of and apart from the Chosen One. You shared no common hope and were outside the help Creator gave to them in this world.

But through the Spirit we keep trusting in the Chosen One for good standing and aim our hearts toward Creator’s right ways.

And Creator Will Help Us (Isaiah), speaking with bold words, also said, “A people who were not looking for me found me. I made myself known to a people who never asked for me.”

But here is what is written down for the ones who trust in Creator for their good standing: “Do not say in your heart, ‘Who will go up into the spirit-world above?’”—to bring the Chosen One down—

Do not get the wrong idea. We are not saying that the Great Spirit chooses unfairly.

For in the past you walked long enough following the evil desires of the nations who have lost their way. Like them, you walked a path of selfish and uncontrolled desires. You became drunks who went to wild drinking parties. You even prayed to forbidden spirit-images.

But you, O man who follows the Great Spirit, run away from these things and pursue doing what is right, living in a sacred way, trusting, loving, never giving up, and walking softly and in a humble manner.

Our tribal law was like an elder who watched over the children and told them how to do every little thing, but only until the coming of the Chosen One, who would give us good standing by the way of trusting.

It was foretold long ago in our Sacred Teachings that it would be through trusting in him that Creator would give good standing to all the Outside Nations. The good story was told to Father of Many Nations (Abraham) when Creator said to him, “It is through you that I will bless all nations.”

For trusting comes from the heart and leads to good standing. Then the mouth says what the heart believes, which takes us down the path of being set free and made whole.

We are also saying that our own Tribal People, who worked so hard to earn this good standing by following the law, have failed.

This good standing we have brings peace with the Great Spirit. This peace comes from trusting in Creator Sets Free (Jesus) the Chosen One and what he has done for us.

This is why he was counted as one in good standing with the Great Spirit.

The promise to Father of Many Nations (Abraham) that all the nations of the world would belong to him and his descendants did not come to him because he kept our tribal law, but because of the good standing that comes from trusting in the Great Spirit’s promise.

Is this blessing only for our Tribal Members who have the cutting of the flesh ceremony? Or is it also for the Outside Nations who do not have this ceremony? The “cutting of the flesh ceremony” was an initiation ceremony given to the men of the tribes of Wrestles with Creator (Israel) that made one a Tribal Member in good standing and a participant in the peace treaty the Great Spirit made with the tribes. Now we have already said that it was by trusting that Father of Many Nations (Abraham) had good standing in the eyes of the Great Spirit.

As human beings we might think that our wrongdoing only proves that the Great Spirit was right about us all along. Would we then be able to say that it is wrong for him to show his anger toward us?
