First Nations Version

Welcome into our sacred gatherings those who are weak in their understanding of our spiritual ways. Do not try to prove them wrong about the things they have decided for themselves.

So we who are strong in our spiritual ways should be willing to lend a shoulder to the ones who are weak and unable to walk this road with firm steps. For this road is not only for our own good,


When I am among those who are poor and weak, I join with them in their struggle. I look for common ground with everyone, so that I can tell them the good story that will make them whole and set them free.


So welcome each other with open arms in the same way the Chosen One has honored the Great Spirit by welcoming you.


It would be better not to eat, drink wine, or do anything that would make a sacred family member stumble on the path.


If any of these people come to you who do not agree with this teaching, do not welcome them to stay in your home or greet them as members of the sacred family.


When Father of Many Nations (Abraham) was about one hundred winters old, he could see that his body was as good as dead and that the womb of Noble Woman (Sarah) was barren. Even so, his faith did not become weak,

Creator Sets Free (Jesus) quickly reached out and took hold of him. “Man of small faith,” he said, “what made you hold back and doubt me?”


He will not break a bruised reed. He will not snuff out a smoldering fire. He will never give up until all wrongs have been made right again!


So when he arrives, welcome him in our Honored Chief with glad hearts. Show great respect and honor toward people like him.


“I speak from my heart. The one who welcomes the one I send welcomes me. The one who welcomes me welcomes the one who sent me.”


“So do not look down on even one of these little ones, for their spirit-messengers in the spirit-world above always look upon the face of my Father, the one who is above us all.


The indigenous people there showed great kindness to us. It was raining and cold, so they built us a warm fire and welcomed us all.


So think about it this way. If the turning away of our Tribal Members from the Great Spirit means that he then turned toward the rest of the world, to bring them back to himself, then what will it mean when our Tribal Members turn back to welcome him? It can only mean that they have come back to life from the dead!


One person trusts that all foods are good to eat, while another whose understanding is weak might only eat herbs and plants.


The one who eats all foods must not look down on the one who eats only herbs and plants. In the same way, the one who eats only herbs and plants should not decide the other is wrong, for the Great Spirit has accepted both of them.


Now, my sacred family members, we call on you to give firm and wise counsel to those whose hands do nothing. Comfort those whose hearts are on the ground. Help the ones who are weak, and be patient with everyone.


But solid food is for those who are mature. For the ones who have walked the road many times have learned the difference between what is right and what is wrong.
