As a True Human Being, he lowered himself even more by following the guidance of the Great Spirit, even when death was waiting for him at the end of the trail, death on a tree-pole—the cross!

No one takes my life from me, for I lay it down on my own. I have the right to lay my life down and the right to take it back. It is my Father who gives me this right.”


This means we must keep our eyes on Creator Sets Free (Jesus), the trailblazer of our spiritual ways, the one who was first to reach the end of the trail. The joy that lay before him gave him the strength to suffer on the cross and willingly bear its shame. He now sits at Creator’s right hand in the place of greatest honor.


Again, if one man who followed his bad heart passed it on to many others, then one man who walks with a good and upright heart will pass on that good heart to many others.


He took on himself our broken ways when he hung on a tree-pole—the cross. He did this so we could die to our broken ways and come alive to his right ways. By his wounds we have been made whole.


The Chosen One died once for the broken ways of all people. The one who always does right suffered for those who do wrong to make a way for us to come to the Great Spirit. In his weak human body he was put to death, but he was made alive in the Spirit.


For you know the loving kindness of our Honored Chief Creator Sets Free (Jesus) the Chosen One. Even though he had great treasures, he became poor for your sake, that through his poverty you might share in his great treasures.


He went a little ways from them, dropped his face to the ground, and prayed. “O Great Father,” he cried out, “is there a way to take this cup of bitter suffering away from me? But I want only your way, not mine.”


He was shamed and denied a fair trial. No one even imagined he had a future, for he was cut down in the prime of his life.”


He paid the highest price to set us free from all our wrongdoings and purify for himself a people whose hearts burn with fire to do good deeds.


The Chosen One paid a great price to set us free from the law’s demand about doing by taking on himself the law’s curse. As it is written in our Sacred Teachings, “Anyone who has been hanged upon a tree-pole is under a curse.”


but I must walk the path the Father has for me, so the world will know the great love I have for him. “Get up!” he said to them. “It is time for us to go from here.”


By doing what the Father has told me, I have remained in his love.


Once again he went from them and prayed, “My Father, if this is the only way, then, as you desire, I will drink deeply of this bitter cup.” The night was silent and cold as Creator Sets Free (Jesus) trembled and prayed. The powers of darkness were pressing in hard. After a while he returned to the three followers, who were supposed to be praying.


Right there before them his appearance began to change. His clothes turned bright white, and his face began to shine like the sun.


He knew what they were saying, so he said to them, “What feeds me is to do the will of the one who sent me and to finish his work.


As he was sending his voice to the Great Spirit, the appearance of his face began to change, and his clothes turned white as snow.


For in your struggle against bad hearts and broken ways you have not yet had to face your own blood being shed.
