Matthew 9:12First Nations VersionCreator Sets Free (Jesus) overheard them and said, “People who are well do not need medicine. It is for the ones who are sick. See the chapter |
The crowd of people saw where they were going and followed him. When Creator Sets Free (Jesus) saw the great crowd of people, his heart went out to them again. He welcomed them and took the time to tell stories and help them understand many things about Creator’s good road. He also healed the ones among them who were sick.
Creator Sets Free (Jesus) overheard them and said, “People who are well do not need medicine. I have not come to the ones who are already walking the good road, but to help the bad-hearted and broken ones find the way back home.” It was a common practice among the tribal people to go without food to help their prayers and for other spiritual reasons. Sometimes it was done out of sadness and sorrow for a friend or a family member’s troubles.
There was a woman in the crowd who had been bleeding in an unusual way for more than twelve winters. Under tribal law this woman would be considered unclean. She was also required to warn people nearby of her condition by saying out loud, “Unclean! Unclean!” Instead, she pushed her way through the crowd to get to the Wisdomkeeper. She spent all she had on medicine men who were not able to heal her.
