You were spiritually dead because your weak human ways had not yet been cut away and because you were still following your bad hearts, walking in your broken ways. Even so the Great Spirit has made you spiritually alive along with the Chosen One by releasing you from all wrongdoings.


This is why it is said, “Wake up, O sleeper, come back from the dead, and the Chosen One will shine on you!”

We all once walked a dark and crooked path that led us to death.


But the ones who live only to please themselves are spiritually dead even while they live.


The next morning Creator Sets Free (Jesus) walked to the territory of Circle of Nations (Galilee). There he found a man named Friend of Horses (Philip) and said to him, “Come, and from now on walk the road with me.”


Creator Sets Free (Jesus) left there, and as he walked on, he saw a tribal tax collector named Gift from Creator (Matthew) sitting at his tax booth. Tribal tax collectors were often Tribal Members who were given the right to collect taxes for the People of Iron (Romans). They could force their own people, under the threat of violence, to pay them. To make a living, they would take more than the People of Iron (Romans) required. But many of them became greedy and took even more than they were permitted. They were hated and looked down on by the people. Creator Sets Free (Jesus), to the surprise of all, walked up to the tribal tax collector and said to him, “Gift from Creator (Matthew), come and walk the road with me.” So he got up from his tax booth, left it all behind, and began to walk the road with Creator Sets Free (Jesus).


Another follower said to Creator Sets Free (Jesus), “Honored One, let me first go home to my father until it is time to bury him.”


As he walked the shore, he saw a tribal tax collector named He Brings Together (Levi), the son of First to Change (Alphaeus) sitting at his tax booth. “Come,” Creator Sets Free (Jesus) said to him, “and walk the road with me.” He Brings Together (Levi) got up from his tax booth, left that life behind him, and became a follower of Creator Sets Free (Jesus). Tribal tax collectors were often Tribal Members who were given the right to collect taxes for the People of Iron (Romans). “Let the ones who are dead bury their own dead,” he said to the man. “You are alive, go and tell others about Creator’s good road.”


This is my son! He was lost, but I have found him. He was dead to me, but now he is alive!’ Then they all began to feast, sing, and dance.


He was telling him the kind of death he would die, to bring honor to Creator. Then he said to Stands on the Rock (Peter), “Come, walk the road with me.” This was the same invitation he had given years earlier to Stands on the Rock (Peter) in Circle of Nations (Galilee) after the canoes had been filled with fish.


Creator Sets Free (Jesus) answered him, “If I want him to remain alive until I return, why would it matter? You must walk the road I have chosen for you.”
