The evil trickster could think of nothing more to test him with, so he slithered away to wait for another time. Then spirit-messengers came to give comfort and strength to Creator Sets Free (Jesus).

Do you not know that if I called out to my Father, he would send to me many thousands of spirit-messengers?


Are not all spirit-messengers spirits who have been sent out with the sacred task of serving those who will share in the blessings of being set free and made whole?


While he prayed, a spirit-messenger from the spirit-world above appeared, giving him strength.


Creator Sets Free (Jesus) had passed every test. The evil snake could think of nothing more, so he slithered away to wait for another time.


And again, when the Great Spirit was about to bring his honored Son into the world above, he said, “Let all of Creator’s spirit-messengers honor and serve him.”


There is only a little time left for me to talk with you. The dark ruler of this world is coming. His power over me is nothing,


“Did I not sit with you every day in the sacred lodge? Why did you not take me then? This is your time, and you have given the powers of darkness their day.”


For forty days and nights he remained there, surrounded by wild animals and being tested by Accuser (Satan)—the ancient trickster snake. Spirit-messengers also came to give him strength and comfort.


“Prove you are the Son of the Great Spirit and jump down from here!” the evil snake taunted him. “Do not the Sacred Teachings also say, ‘His spirit-messengers will watch over you to keep you from harm. They will even keep your foot from hitting a stone’?”


The mystery of this great and sacred truth has now been made known. He who appeared as a human being was shown to be in the right by the Spirit. He was seen by spirit-messengers, made known among the nations, trusted in by people in the world, and taken up to be honored in the spirit-world above.
