and said, “You who thought you could tear down the sacred lodge and rebuild it in three days—can you even save yourself? If you are the Son of the Great Spirit, then come down off that cross!”

and said, “We heard him say, ‘I can tear down Creator’s sacred lodge and build it again in three days.’”


“Prove you are the Son of the Great Spirit and jump down from here!” the evil snake taunted him. “Do not the Sacred Teachings also say, ‘His spirit-messengers will watch over you to keep you from harm. They will even keep your foot from hitting a stone’?”


When the evil snake saw that Creator Sets Free (Jesus)was weak and hungry, he came to him and whispered in his ear. “Are you the Son of the Great Spirit?” he hissed. “Prove it by turning these stones into frybread.”


Those who dwell in the land will celebrate with glad hearts and send gifts one to another, because these two prophets had caused them such great suffering.


“Father of Many Nations (Abraham) shook his head and said, ‘If your family will not listen to Drawn from the Water (Moses) and the prophets, then they will not listen even to one who comes back to life from the dead.’”


When the head soldier of the People of Iron (Romans) and his soldiers who were guarding Creator Sets Free (Jesus) felt the earth shake and saw what was happening all around them, they trembled with fear and said, “This man must truly be the Son of the Great Spirit!”


“He set others free,” they said, “but he cannot even free himself. So he is the chief of the tribes of Wrestles with Creator (Israel), is he? Let him come down from the cross now, and then we will believe in him!


It is the bad-hearted and unfaithful people of today who look for signs, but the only sign they will be given is the sign of the prophet Wings of Dove (Jonah).” After saying this, he left them and went on his way. He and his followers took their canoe to cross again to the other side of the lake.


The head holy men, the scroll keepers, and the elders all joined in.
