“But know this: If the elder of a family had known at what part of the night the thief was coming, he would have stayed awake and stopped the thief from breaking in.
“Here is another way to see what I am saying. If the elder of a family had known what night the thieves were coming, he would not have let them break in.
“They hurried away to get more oil. But while they were gone, the groom came and all the guests went into the lodge for the wedding feast, and the gate was closed.
“Here is what I am saying to you: be prepared like the wise women in this story and always be ready, for you do not know the time of day or night that the True Human Being will appear.”
He could see them paddling hard against the wind. Then, early in the morning, just before sunrise, he walked out on the lake and was going to pass right past them.
They must stay awake and be ready, doing what he says, for they do not know when the chief will return. It may be when the sun is setting, or late into the night, or when the rooster crows early in the morning.
So remember what you have been given and what you have heard. Return to the right way of thinking. Walk with firm steps and do what needs to be done. But if you fail to wake up, you will not be prepared for my coming. Then for you I will be like a thief who comes when you do not expect it.
“Behold, I am coming like a thief!” says Creator Sets Free (Jesus). “Creator’s blessing will rest on the one who remains awake, wearing regalia, and not naked and ashamed for all to see.”
