“If what your eye sees makes you stumble on the path, then gouge it out and throw it away! It is better for you to walk this life with only one eye than to be thrown into the Valley of Smoldering Fire.

On the way they strengthened the hearts of the new followers, telling them to stand tall as they walked this path of trusting. “Following Creator’s good road to the end,” they counseled them, “is a difficult path with many hardships.”


“So, if what your hand or foot does makes you stumble from the path, cut it off and throw it away! It is better to walk this life without a hand or foot than to be thrown into the fire that burns on and on.


If your right eye sees in this way—gouge it out and throw it away!


But I tell you, everyone who is angry toward a fellow human being will have to give an answer to the tribal council. If they speak with disrespect to someone, saying, ‘You hollow head!’ they will also face the tribal council. If they curse someone by saying ‘You damn fool!’ they may end up in the Valley of Smoldering Fire.


Nothing impure or anyone who participates in shameful ways will go through the gates. Only the ones whose names are written down in the Lamb’s book of life will be able to enter.


So then, let us pour all of our strength into entering Creator’s rest. In this way, no one will stumble away from the path of trusting, like our ancestors did.


“The same thing goes for your eye. If what it sees makes you stumble from the path, then pluck it out and throw it away. It would be better to walk Creator’s good road with only one eye than to see with two eyes and be thrown into the Valley of Smoldering Fire.


“Why do you ask me about what is good?” he asked the man. “There is only one who is good—the Great Spirit. If you want this life, then follow the instructions given in our tribal law.”


How will it help you to get everything you want but lose this life? Is there anything in this world worth trading for your life?
