While they were there, the Separated Ones (Pharisees) came to argue with him. They asked from him a sign from the spirit-world above to prove who he was.

We should not put our Honored Chief to the test, as some of our ancestors did, and were killed by poisonous snakes.


Then some of the scroll keepers and Separated Ones (Pharisees) spoke back to him. “Wisdomkeeper,” they demanded, “show us a powerful sign to prove who you are.” But Creator Sets Free (Jesus) turned their words back on them, for they had just seen him do a powerful sign.


Creator Sets Free (Jesus) looked around at the crowd and said, “Why do you need to see signs and wonders before you will believe?”


And others were putting him to a test, asking him for a sign from the spirit-world above.


Stands on the Rock (Peter) then said to her, “How could both of you agree to put Creator’s Spirit to the test? Look! The ones who buried your husband are coming to do the same for you.”


“Does even one tribal leader or Separated One (Pharisee) believe in him?


“What powerful sign will you show us, that we should trust in you?” they asked. “What sign will you perform?


A scroll keeper, one who was skilled in his knowledge of tribal law, came to Creator Sets Free (Jesus) to test him and trap him in his words. “Wisdomkeeper,” he said. “What path must I walk to have the life of the world to come that never fades away, full of beauty and harmony?”


Yes or no?” Creator Sets Free (Jesus) could see right through their false faces! “Why are you putting me to the test?” he said to them. “Bring to me one of their silver coins and I will look at it.”


When the Separated Ones (Pharisees) and the scroll keepers saw Creator Sets Free (Jesus) eating with outcasts, they complained to his close followers, saying, “Why does your wisdomkeeper keep company with tribal tax collectors and other outcasts?”


Later that same day some of the Upright Ones (Sadducees), who say that the dead do not rise again, came to Creator Sets Free (Jesus) to question him also.


He could see right through them and knew what they were up to! “Why are you putting me to the test? I can see behind your false faces!” he answered.


The Separated Ones (Pharisees) began to scheme against Creator Sets Free (Jesus).


When he arrived at the lodge, the head holy men were waiting for him. They and the ruling elders of the people came to him. “By what right do you do these things?” they challenged. “Who gave you this right?”


Some of the Separated Ones (Pharisees) came to him. “Does our tribal law permit a man to put away his wife for any and every reason?” they asked.


They were putting him to a test, so they could have a way to accuse him. The crowd was silent and waited to see what he would say, but he said nothing. He bent over and with his finger wrote something in the dirt. When he did not answer right away, the Separated Ones (Pharisees) became angry and kept questioning him.


“What are you arguing with my followers about?” he asked them.
