“Can you not see?” Creator Sets Free (Jesus) said. “The tribal tax collector returned home in good standing with Creator, but the Separated One (Pharisee) did not! The ones who think too highly of themselves will be brought down low. The ones who humble themselves will be lifted up.”

He said to them, “The ones who put themselves above others will be brought down, but all who humble themselves will be lifted up.”


Creator Sets Free (Jesus) said to them, “You always make yourselves look good to others, but the Great Spirit sees your heart. What many see as valuable he sees as worthless.


Humble yourselves in the sight of the Great Spirit, and he will lift you up to a place of honor.


The ones who put themselves above others will be brought down low. The ones who humble themselves will be lifted up.” He then turned again and began to boldly confront the bad spiritual leaders.


But his gift of great kindness is more than enough, just as our Sacred Teachings also say, “The Great Spirit stands against the proud and arrogant, but he shows great kindness to the humble of heart.”


He counts coup with arrogant warrior chiefs but puts a headdress of honor on the ones with humble hearts.” She smiled, looked up to the sky, and shouted for joy!


“Creator’s blessing rests on the poor, the ones with broken spirits. The good road from above is theirs to walk.


But we who follow the Chosen One know that working hard to keep our tribal law does not put us in good standing with Creator. For good standing comes through trusting in what Creator Sets Free (Jesus) the Chosen One has done. As Tribal Members we have put our trust in him, so that our good standing comes from trusting in the Chosen One and not by working hard to keep our tribal law. For no human being will be put in good standing with Creator by working hard to keep the law.


But when people do no work but simply trust in Creator to release them from their spiritual darkness, this kind of trusting gives them good standing in the eyes of the Great Spirit.


So then, it should be clear to all that no one can be in good standing in the eyes of the Great Spirit by doing what our tribal law says. What is clear is that the law shows us how bad our hearts have become and how broken our lives truly are.


But the scroll keeper, wanting to look good to others, asked him, “Who are my fellow human beings?”


No one can accuse Creator’s chosen ones of being guilty, for the Great Spirit himself has decided in their favor.


This good standing we have brings peace with the Great Spirit. This peace comes from trusting in Creator Sets Free (Jesus) the Chosen One and what he has done for us.
