“Why do you ask me about what is good?” he asked the man. “There is only one who is good—the Great Spirit. If you want this life, then follow the instructions given in our tribal law.”


Our tribal law is not about trusting. It is about doing. As our Sacred Teachings tell us, “It is the ones who keep doing what is written in the law who will find life.”


The law finds its true meaning and purpose in the Chosen One, for good standing with the Great Spirit comes from trusting in what he has done.


From these Sacred Teachings we can see that we Tribal Members have not followed our own tribal laws. Our Sacred Teachings have spoken against us, giving us nothing to say in our own defense, and proving that we, along with all the people of the world, stand guilty. And we must give an answer to the Great Spirit for what we have done.


“I suppose it would be the one who owed him the most.” “You have answered well,” Creator Sets Free (Jesus) told him.


When Creator Sets Free (Jesus) heard the scroll keeper’s wise answer, he said, “You are not far from Creator’s good road.” After that, no one dared to ask him any other questions.


So the law’s instructions, which were supposed to give me life, instead brought death to me.
