Luke 1:9First Nations VersionHe was chosen in the traditional way to be the one to enter the sacred lodge and perform the sweet-smelling smoke ceremony for the evening prayer. Most holy men could only hope for this honor once in a lifetime. See the chapter |
He threw the thirty pieces of silver on the floor of the sacred lodge and ran away in sorrow. He then left them and hanged himself. As the light of the sunrise grew brighter on the horizon, his lifeless body could be seen hanging from the branch of a tree. He could not live with what he had done. The head holy men did not know what to do with the pieces of silver.
