First Nations Version

So he took his brother to meet Creator Sets Free (Jesus). Creator Sets Free (Jesus) looked deep into his eyes and said, “You are One Who Hears (Simon), son of Gift of Kindness (John). I will give you the name Stands on the Rock (Peter).”

Then he showed himself alive to Stands on the Rock (Cephas) and his twelve message bearers.


Men such as Small Man (Paul) or He Tears Down (Apollos) or Stands on the Rock (Cephas) are all yours in the Chosen One. All things are already yours—whether it is this world, or life, or death, or today and all the days that will follow.


It was told to me that one says, “I follow Small Man (Paul).” Another says, “I follow He Tears Down (Apollos).” Another says, “I follow Stands on the Rock (Cephas).” And someone else says, “I follow the Chosen One.”


So when He Leads the Way (James), Stands on the Rock (Cephas-Peter), and He Shows Goodwill (John), who seemed to be the spiritual leaders, came to understand that I had been given this sacred task, they joined hands in agreement with me and Son of Comfort (Barnabas). They agreed that we would go to the Outside Nations and they to our tribal nation.


Do we not have the right to travel with a wife, as do the other message bearers, such as the brothers of our Honored Chief and Stands on the Rock (Cephas)?


Here are the names of the twelve that he chose to be his special message bearers: First there was One Who Hears (Simon), who was also called Stands on the Rock (Peter), and his brother Stands with Courage (Andrew). Then he chose He Takes Over (James) and his brother He Shows Goodwill (John), who are the sons of Gift of Creator (Zebedee).


When One Who Hears (Simon), along with his fishing partners—He Takes Over (James) and He Shows Goodwill (John), the sons of Gift of Creator (Zebedee)—saw what happened, they were filled with wonder and awe at the great catch of fish. One Who Hears (Simon) fell to his knees in front of Creator Sets Free (Jesus). “Wisdomkeeper!” he groaned. “Go away from me! For I am a bad-hearted and unholy man.” “Do not fear!” Creator Sets Free (Jesus) told him. “From now on your nets will catch two-leggeds.”


Stands on the Rock (Peter) along with other followers of Creator Sets Free (Jesus) had gathered there. With him were Looks Like His Brother (Thomas), Creator Gives (Nathanael) from Village of Reeds (Cana) in Circle of Nations (Galilee), the two sons of Gift of Creator (Zebedee), and two other followers.


Here are the names of the twelve he chose: Stands on the Rock (Peter), the name he gave to One Who Hears (Simon);


“I am not talking about all of you, for I know the hearts of the ones I have chosen. Now you will see the full meaning of the Sacred Teachings that said, ‘The one who ate with me has turned against me.’


First there was One Who Hears (Simon), whom he named Stands on the Rock (Peter), and his brother Stands with Courage (Andrew). Then he chose two brothers whom he called Sons of Thunder—He Takes Over (James) and He Shows Goodwill (John). Next there was Friend of Horses (Philip) and Son of Ground Digger (Bartholomew)


Then after three winters I traveled to Village of Peace (Jerusalem) to learn from Stands on the Rock (Cephas-Peter) and remained with him for fifteen days.


After that, something else happened that I need to make clear: when Stands on the Rock (Cephas-Peter) came to stay for a time at the village of Stands Against (Antioch), I had to take a stand against him face-to-face, to clearly show that what he was doing was wrong.


He said to her, “Go to your husband and bring him here.”
