First Nations Version

The next day Gift of Goodwill (John) saw Creator Sets Free (Jesus) walking toward him from a distance. “Behold!” he said to the ones gathered with him. “There is Creator’s Lamb, the one who carries away and heals the bad hearts and broken ways of the world!” The crowd of people looked to see the one Gift of Goodwill (John) was talking about.

He paid a great price to set us free from our bad hearts and broken ways, not only for us but for all people.


You know that he came to do away with bad hearts and broken ways and that in him there are no broken ways.


Creator Sets Free (Jesus), the one who knew no broken ways, was chosen by the Great Spirit to bear our broken ways, so that we would become the ones who represent his right ways.


He took on himself our broken ways when he hung on a tree-pole—the cross. He did this so we could die to our broken ways and come alive to his right ways. By his wounds we have been made whole.


This Son is the light coming from the face of the Great Spirit in all its bright-shining beauty. What is true about the Great Spirit is true about the Son, for he represents Creator in every way. It is his powerful word that holds the stars above, the earth below, and all things seen and unseen in their place. He came into this world to purify the bad hearts and broken ways of all people. When he was finished, he returned to the One Above Us All to sit in the place of greatest honor at the right hand of the Great Mystery.


I watched as the Lamb broke open the first of the seven seals. Then I heard the first of the four spirit animals speak. “Come forth!” it said with a voice of thunder.


Creator’s holy ones won the victory over him by the lifeblood shed by the Lamb and by boldly telling his story, and, when faced with death, they loved him more than they loved their own lives.


The Chosen One paid a great price to set us free from the law’s demand about doing by taking on himself the law’s curse. As it is written in our Sacred Teachings, “Anyone who has been hanged upon a tree-pole is under a curse.”


They saw Creator Sets Free (Jesus) walking nearby. He said to them, “Look! There is Creator’s Lamb!”


“The Lamb at the center of the seat of honor will watch over them like a shepherd watches over his sheep. He will guide them to springs of life-giving water, and there the Great Spirit will perform the wiping of tears ceremony for each of them.”


The man was reading these words from the Sacred Teachings: “Like a sheep led to the slaughter or like a lamb being sheared, he was silent and did not open his mouth.


“They will make war against the Lamb, but the Lamb will win the victory, because he is Grand Chief over All Chiefs! And those who stand with him are the called-out ones, who have been chosen and are loyal to the Great Spirit.”


They were singing the song of Creator’s servant Drawn from the Water (Moses) and the song of Creator’s Lamb. “O Great Creator and Honored One!” they sang with one voice. “All that you do is powerful and full of wonder! Your ways are right and true, O Chief of All Nations!


Then I looked, and there on Strong Mountain (Mount Zion) stood the Lamb. Standing with him were one hundred forty-four thousand who had his name and the name of his father tattooed on their foreheads.


“Honored one,” I said to him, “you must know.” Then he said to me, “These are the ones who have come through the time of great trouble and suffering. They have washed their regalia in the lifeblood shed by the Lamb, making their regalia pure white.


The Chosen One died once for the broken ways of all people. The one who always does right suffered for those who do wrong to make a way for us to come to the Great Spirit. In his weak human body he was put to death, but he was made alive in the Spirit.


Then the spirit-messenger said to me, “Write this down, ‘Creator’s blessing rests on the ones who are invited to the marriage feast of the Lamb.’ These words are true,” he said with firm words, “for they come from the mouth of the Great Spirit.”


will also drink the wine of Creator’s great anger. The wine in the cup of his deep anger will not be watered down, and those who drink it must face great suffering with fire and burning rocks in the presence of the holy spirit-messengers and the Lamb.


All who dwell in the land will honor and serve the wild beast—all whose names have not been written down in the book of life belonging to the Lamb who was chosen to be violently killed from the formation of the world.


“The Great Spirit loves this world of human beings so deeply he gave us his Son—the only Son who fully represents him. All who trust in him and his way will not come to a bad end, but will have the life of the world to come that never fades away, full of beauty and harmony.


“Dance for joy with glad hearts and give honor to the Great Spirit, for the time for the wedding ceremony of the Lamb has come, and his bride has made herself ready.”


These are the ones who have kept themselves spiritually as pure as a virgin. Wherever the Lamb goes, they walk the road with him. They are the first from among humans to be set apart for the Great Spirit and for the Lamb. They are the ceremonial first fruits of the harvest, for a great price has been paid to rescue them and set them free.


When he took the scroll, the four living spirit animals and the twenty-four elders all humbled themselves before the Lamb to honor him. They each held a stringed musical instrument and a golden smudge bowl full of sweet-smelling smoke, which are the prayers of Creator’s holy people.


I also greet you from Creator Sets Free (Jesus) the Chosen One. He is the honorable witness, the first to rise from among the dead, and the Grand Chief over all who rule on earth. All honor belongs to the one who loves us, the one who, by giving up his own lifeblood, set us free from our bad hearts and broken ways.


Then one of the seven spirit-messengers who had the seven smudge bowls that were filled with the seven last disasters came and spoke to me. “Come,” he said, “and I will show you the bride, the Lamb’s wife.”


“Fall on us!” they said to the mountains and rocks. “Hide us from the face of the one who sits on the seat of honor and from the anger of the Lamb.


He paid the highest price to set us free from all our wrongdoings and purify for himself a people whose hearts burn with fire to do good deeds.


Nothing impure or anyone who participates in shameful ways will go through the gates. Only the ones whose names are written down in the Lamb’s book of life will be able to enter.


This is love, not that we loved Creator, but that he loved us and proved his love by sending his Son to take on himself the burden of our broken ways.


He gave up his own life to set all people free, so that, when the time was right, this truth would be made clear to all humankind.


This is the first and most important truth I passed on to you: The Chosen One died for our bad hearts and broken ways, just as our Sacred Teachings foretold.


In the same way, the True Human Being did not come to be served by others, but to offer his life in the place of many lives, to set them free.” The road to Village of Peace (Jerusalem) took them through Moon Village (Jericho).


Then I looked and saw a Lamb that looked as if he had been violently killed standing in the center near the seat of honor. He stood encircled by the four living spirit animals and the elders. The Lamb had seven horns and seven eyes. These are the seven spirits of Creator that he has sent out into all the earth.


So the Chosen One also died once when he took on himself the bad hearts and broken ways of many people. He will appear a second time, not to die for broken ways but to set free and make whole all who keep their eyes wide open as they wait for him.


He is the one who laid down his life for us to set us free from our bad hearts and broken ways. He did this to rescue us from the evil and worthless ways of the world we now live in. This is what our Father the Great Spirit wanted him to do.


She will give birth to a son. You will name him Creator Sets Free (Jesus), because he will set his people free from their bad hearts and broken ways.”


The wall encircling the sacred village was built on twelve stones. Carved into the stones were the names of the twelve message bearers of the Lamb.


I am saying that Creator Sets Free (Jesus) needed to become fully and truly human. In this way, he could serve as Creator’s honorable and merciful chief holy man and perform the ancient mercy-seat ceremony one last time to heal the bad hearts and broken ways of the people.


The next day, Gift of Goodwill (John) was standing with two of his followers.


The next morning Creator Sets Free (Jesus) walked to the territory of Circle of Nations (Galilee). There he found a man named Friend of Horses (Philip) and said to him, “Come, and from now on walk the road with me.”


Three days later there was a wedding in Village of Reeds (Cana), in the territory of Circle of Nations (Galilee). Bitter Tears (Mary), the mother of Creator Sets Free (Jesus), was there.


They said to the woman, “We believe now, not just because of your words, but because we have heard him ourselves. We now see that this is the one who will restore the world and set all people free.”


I am the living bread from above. The ones who eat this bread will live beyond the end of all days. And this is the bread that I will give as a gift to the world—my human body.”
