My sacred family members, do not speak accusations against each other. If you do, you are putting yourselves above the law, deciding who is guilty or not. When you do this, you are acting against the law itself instead of doing what it says.

So turn away from hatred, lying, cheating, and any false face you have been wearing. Stop bad-mouthing others and being jealous.


But you who judge and decide the guilt of those who walk in these broken ways have no excuse for doing so. When you decide the guilt of others, you are only proving your own guilt, because you are doing the same kinds of things.


So then, my sacred family members, do not grumble against each other or you may be found guilty. Look! The Judge who decides is right outside, ready to come in.


“Do not judge others, and you will not be judged. When you release others from their wrongdoings, you will be released from yours.


So do not keep deciding these kinds of things ahead of time. Instead, wait until the coming of our Honored Chief. On that day he will shine his light on the things hidden in darkness and make known the plans of all human hearts. The Knower of Hearts will then give to each person whatever honor is due.


Let Creator pull the bitter roots from your heart, for they feed the rage and anger that takes you down a path of fighting, hurting, and speaking evil of your fellow human beings.


But I fear that when I come to you we will not be walking in step with each other. I might find among you that there will be arguing, jealousy, uncontrolled anger, selfish desires, forked tongues, boastful talk, and hostile ways.


People will be cold-hearted, merciless, full of accusations, without self-control, savage, and haters of what is good.


Their wives must walk with dignity, never speak evil of others, and be clear-minded and faithful in every way.


But if you think I am saying our tribal law is at fault or that it is the reason we walk in our broken ways, you are not thinking straight. What I am saying is that the law shows us how bad our broken ways have become. I would not have known that some desires are wrong if the law had not said, “Do not desire what belongs to another.”


For it is not the ones who hear the law who have good standing with Creator but the ones who do what it says.


But take a good long look into the perfect way of life, the law of love that sets people free. Stay true to its message, not forgetting what you have heard but walking in all its ways, and Creator’s blessing will rest on all you do.


In the same way, expect the elder women to walk a sacred path. They should not talk in a bad way about others or be heavy drinkers. They should be wisdomkeepers,


Do not be misled, my sacred family members.


Knowing this, my much-loved family members, we must all be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to become angry.


If you “love your fellow human beings in the same way you love yourselves,” as it says in our Sacred Teachings, you are doing well, for you are walking in the true meaning and purpose of the law of our Honored Chief.


So be patient, my sacred family members, until our Honored Chief appears. Look at the worker in the field who patiently waits for the seasonal rains to fall so the land can bring forth its fruits.


My sacred family members, follow in the footsteps of the prophets who spoke for the Great Spirit. Even in times of suffering, they remained patient and strong.
