First Nations Version

When the council saw the courage of Stands on the Rock (Peter) and He Shows Goodwill (John), they were amazed to find that they were common and unschooled men. They also took notice that they had walked the road with Creator Sets Free (Jesus).

For the Great Spirit has chosen the foolish to shame the wise and the weak to shame the strong.


The tribal leaders were amazed at his teaching. “Where did he get this wisdom and understanding?” they asked. “He has not studied under our wisdomkeepers or attended our learning houses.”


“I honor you, O Great Father, Maker of earth and sky,” he prayed, “for you have hidden these things from the ones who are wise in their own eyes but have shown them to the humble of heart.


A short time later some of the men came up to him. “You must be one of his followers,” they said. “The way you speak gives you away.”


These people are ignorant of the Sacred Teachings given by Drawn from the Water (Moses). They are under a curse!”


Creator Sets Free (Jesus) chose Stands on the Rock (Peter) and He Shows Goodwill (John). “Go and prepare a place for us to eat the ceremonial meal,” he instructed them.


Then he went toward the gate, and another servant woman saw him and said out loud to all, “This man was with Creator Sets Free (Jesus) from Seed Planter Village (Nazareth).”


But what could they say? The man who had been healed was standing right there with them!


Stands on the Rock (Peter) and He Shows Goodwill (John) disagreed with the council’s decision. “We will let you decide for yourselves whether we should follow the Great Spirit or weak human beings like yourselves,” they said with boldness.


“So we ask, O Great One, look down and see their threats against us. Help us to be brave and tell your story well


When they finished praying, the place where they had gathered began to rumble and shake. The Holy Spirit filled them with his power, and with brave and strong hearts they began to tell Creator’s Story!


But Son of Comfort (Barnabas) came alongside him and took him to the message bearers. Man Who Questions (Saul) then told them the story of what happened on the road, how he had seen and heard the voice of our Honored Chief. He also told them that he had been representing Creator Sets Free (Jesus) and speaking out boldly to the Tribal Members in the village of Silent Weaver (Damascus).


So Man Who Questions (Saul) stayed with them. He walked the roads all around Village of Peace (Jerusalem) representing Creator Sets Free (Jesus) by speaking out boldly about him.


They would then humble themselves before Creator and tell everyone that the Great Spirit truly walks among you.


This kind of hope gives us the courage to speak with brave words about these things.
