Small Man (Paul) looked deeply into the eyes of the members of the Grand Council. “My fellow Tribal Members,” he said to the council, “All my life I have walked in a good way, with a pure heart before the Great Spirit.”


My aim in telling you these things is that you would walk the path of love with a pure heart, being true to what you trust in and honest to who you are deep inside.


For this reason we have put an end to shameful ways that are kept hidden in darkness. We do not walk in the ways of a trickster or misrepresent Creator’s message. Instead, under Creator’s watchful eyes we openly speak the truth. In this way, all who hear can know within themselves what kind of people we are.


let us draw near with honest hearts, trusting fully in what the Chosen One has done. For our hearts have been washed clean from guilt and shame and our bodies washed with pure water.


They show that creation’s law is already at work within them, carved into their hearts. There is a voice deep within their inner being that speaks to them about what is right and what is wrong.


We may be bragging, but we are bold enough to tell you that our hearts are pure, for we have walked this road of life in a sacred and true manner. We have not followed the ways of this world, but by the gift of Creator’s great kindness we have walked in a good way before the people of this world, and even more toward you. In the same way, our words to you are as straight as an arrow. We do not speak with forked tongues in our letters to you.


The story of what happened then is a way to understand our purification ceremony with water, a ceremony that is performed to set us free and make us whole. This ceremony does not just wash the dirt from our bodies. It shows that from deep inside we are crying out for Creator to set us free by what he did when he raised Creator Sets Free (Jesus) the Chosen One from the dead.


To the pure, all things are pure. But to those who are unclean because they do not believe the truth, nothing is pure, for both in their minds and deep within their hearts they have been made unclean.


I know of nothing in which I have failed, but this does not prove me to be in the right. That decision belongs to our Honored Chief.


Give your answer to them in a kind and respectful way. Do what you know deep inside to be right, so when outsiders accuse you, they will be put to shame as you walk in a good way following the Chosen One.


For the gift of great kindness rests on the ones who, out of respect for the Great Spirit, patiently suffer even when they have done nothing wrong.


Keep sending up prayers for us, for deep inside we are sure that we are walking in a good and honorable way.


then how much more will the lifeblood of the Chosen One accomplish? Through the eternal Spirit he offered his life to the Great Spirit to purify our hearts and minds from the meaningless things we have done to try to please the Great Spirit. Now we can serve the living Creator with the life that comes from him!


When I send my voice to the Great Spirit, I speak your name before him as I give thanks to him night and day. I serve Creator with a pure heart, doing what I know deep inside to be good and right, just as my ancestors did.


Along with the Great Spirit, you who trust our message are witnesses to the honest, good, and blameless ways we walked among you.


From deep within they must hold firm to the mystery of our spiritual ways.


Keep your trust in the Chosen One strong and follow what you know deep inside to be true. Some have not listened to this inner voice, and their trust in the Chosen One has fallen to the ground.


From my heart I speak truth in the Chosen One. I am not speaking with a forked tongue. My spirit is in harmony with the Holy Spirit when
