After some time there, they sent the messengers back with a blessing of peace on those who had sent them.


“I leave you now with my great peace. It is my gift to you. It is not the kind of peace the world gives. Do not let the troubles of this world fill you with fear and make your hearts fall to the ground, and do not let fear hold you back.


When the headman of the prison woke up and saw all the prison doors standing open, he took his long knife and was going to kill himself, for he thought all the prisoners had escaped.


“Daughter,” he said to her with great loving kindness in his eyes, “your trust in me has made you well. Now go in peace, for you have been healed of your disease.”


When they finished beating them, they threw them into prison and told the headman of the prison to lock them up.


In the morning the village council sent messengers, saying, “Release these men.”
