If any of these people come to you who do not agree with this teaching, do not welcome them to stay in your home or greet them as members of the sacred family.

This includes those who walk in sexual impurity, those filled with greed, and those who pray to spirit-images. It also includes big-mouth troublemakers, drunks, and thieves. You should not even eat a meal with any sacred family members who walk in these ways.

For greeting them in this way means you are joining with them in their evil deeds.

So if I come, I will give him a stern talking-to, for he has spoken foolishly, accusing us with evil words. As if this were not enough, he also refuses to welcome traveling members of the sacred family. He puts a stop to those who want to welcome them and forces them out of the sacred family gathering.
