While I was with you, I did not ask any of you for help, even though I was in need. Some sacred family members who came from Land of Tall People (Macedonia) gifted me with everything I needed. In this way, I was able to keep myself from becoming a burden to you, and I mean to keep it that way.


“I never asked anyone for their silver, gold, or fine clothes.


If any of these people come to you who do not agree with this teaching, do not welcome them to stay in your home or greet them as members of the sacred family.


For the ones who do this are not walking in the ways of our Honored Chief and Chosen One. Instead, they are feeding their own selfish desires, and like tricksters they use smooth words and big talk to fool the hearts of the ones who lack wisdom.


“The ones who welcome you welcome me, and the ones who welcome me welcome the one who sent me.


But if no one in that village welcomes you or listens to your message, then go from there and shake the dust from your moccasins.


So if you think of me as a fellow traveler on the good road, then welcome him the same way you would welcome me.


I am now sending him back to you, and with him I send my own heart.


Along with the Great Spirit, you who trust our message are witnesses to the honest, good, and blameless ways we walked among you.


I send you greetings from Good Chief (Aristarchus), who is in prison with me. War Club (Mark), the cousin of Son of Comfort (Barnabas), also sends his greetings. He is the one I already instructed you about. If he comes to you, welcome him.


So when he arrives, welcome him in our Honored Chief with glad hearts. Show great respect and honor toward people like him.


I will say it again: I want no one to think of me as a fool. But if you think of me in that manner, then let me speak as if I were a fool so that I can brag some more.


For this reason we have put an end to shameful ways that are kept hidden in darkness. We do not walk in the ways of a trickster or misrepresent Creator’s message. Instead, under Creator’s watchful eyes we openly speak the truth. In this way, all who hear can know within themselves what kind of people we are.


We may be bragging, but we are bold enough to tell you that our hearts are pure, for we have walked this road of life in a sacred and true manner. We have not followed the ways of this world, but by the gift of Creator’s great kindness we have walked in a good way before the people of this world, and even more toward you. In the same way, our words to you are as straight as an arrow. We do not speak with forked tongues in our letters to you.


“In any village that welcomes you, eat whatever they set before you.
