First Nations Version

For we understand that the law was not made for those who walk in a good way. The law was made for outlaws, rebels, and those who follow their bad hearts and have no respect for what is spiritual. It was made for the unholy ones who walk in worthless ways, and for the ones who kill their own fathers or mothers and take the lives of others.

So then, what was the purpose of our tribal law? The law was added because of bad hearts and broken ways, but only until the coming of the Chosen One, the descendant to whom the promise was made. The law was put in place by spirit-messengers through a go-between.


If the ones in good standing come through with much difficulty, then what will be the end of the bad-hearted ones and those who walk in broken ways?


Our tribal law stepped in to show us how bad our broken ways had become, and this only made our broken ways grow worse. But the worse our broken ways grew, even stronger grew the gift of Creator’s great kindness.

For it was not that long ago that we were also foolish and misled rebels who let our evil desires rule over us. Some of us were even bad-hearted, jealous troublemakers, hated by others and hating each other.


Your bad hearts and broken ways have no power to rule over you now, for you are not under the restrictions of our tribal law, but under the freedom that the gift of Creator’s great kindness brings.


Outside the gates are wild-dog people, bad-medicine people, the sexually impure, those who murder, the ones who pray to spirit-images, and all who love to speak lies.


“But the fearful, the untrustworthy, the doers of shameful things, those who murder, the sexually impure, the bad medicine people, the ones who pray to spirit-images, and all who speak lies, their place will be in the fiery lake of burning rocks. This is the second death.”


They represent themselves as those who know the Great Spirit, but the path they walk proves they do not. They show themselves to be disgusting, rebellious, and worthless for any kind of good deed.


These were the spirits of human beings who refused to walk in the ways of the Great Spirit. This was before the great flood in the time of One Who Rests (Noah), when Creator waited patiently for the great wooden canoe to be built. A small number, only eight people, were brought safely through the waters of the flood. This happened long ago in ancient times when the world was filled with violence and almost every human heart was taken over with violence and evil. Creator had to cleanse the earth with a great flood that drowned all living things. The only ones who survived were the family of One Who Rests (Noah), along with the animals he chose, who entered into the great wooden canoe Creator told him to build.


Boastful Woman (Rahab), who lived in Moon Village (Jericho), made her living by trading her body for possessions. But because she trusted and welcomed the spies with peace, she did not die with the ones who refused to obey Creator.


Then the mask will come off and the lawless one will be revealed. And when Creator Sets Free (Jesus) our Honored Chief comes, he will destroy him with the breath of his mouth and put an end to him with the light that shines from his face.


The promise to Father of Many Nations (Abraham) that all the nations of the world would belong to him and his descendants did not come to him because he kept our tribal law, but because of the good standing that comes from trusting in the Great Spirit’s promise.


“Brother will betray brother and parents will betray their children, even putting them to death. Children will turn against their parents and have them killed.


He is highly honored by all who trust in him. But for those who fail to put their trust in him, “The tree the lodge builders threw away has become the Chief Lodgepole.


See that no one becomes an impure or unspiritual person like Hairy Man (Esau), who for a single meal traded away his family birthright.


Our broken ways also lead us to want what belongs to others, to become drunks, and to participate in wild parties. It is things like this that I am warning you about. For I have already warned you that the ones who walk in these ways will not share in the blessings of Creator’s good road.


But if you follow the guidance of the Spirit, you are not under tribal law. You have been set free to follow the Spirit!


Have nothing to do with made-up stories and worn-out tales that have been passed on from long ago. Instead, learn to walk in a sacred manner.


O He Gives Honor (Timothy), keep a close watch over the things that you have been entrusted with. Turn away from foolish and empty talk and arguments about what is falsely called knowledge.


Turn away from worthless and empty talk, for it will take people down a path far away from what is sacred and pure.


People will love only themselves and possessions. They will be puffed up, big-headed, troublemakers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, and unspiritual.


These spiritual leaders must be free from accusation, faithful in marriage, and have children who are not wild and rebellious, but respectful followers of our spiritual ways.


There are many troublemakers with forked tongues and empty words. Most of them are from our own Tribal Members, flesh cutters who require others to participate in the cutting of the flesh ceremony.


When he comes, he will carry out the decision he has made against the ones who have followed their bad hearts and broken ways. Their shameful ways will be exposed along with all the insulting things they have spoken against the Great Spirit.”
