For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy,

These are grumblers, malcontents, following their own sinful desires; they are loud-mouthed boasters, showing favoritism to gain advantage.

For, speaking loud boasts of folly, they entice by sensual passions of the flesh those who are barely escaping from those who live in error.

As it is, you boast in your arrogance. All such boasting is evil.

So also the tongue is a small member, yet it boasts of great things. How great a forest is set ablaze by such a small fire!

For we ourselves were once foolish, disobedient, led astray, slaves to various passions and pleasures, passing our days in malice and envy, hated by others and hating one another.

who opposes and exalts himself against every so-called god or object of worship, so that he takes his seat in the temple of God, proclaiming himself to be God.

We do not boast beyond limit in the labors of others. But our hope is that as your faith increases, our area of influence among you may be greatly enlarged,

Then what becomes of our boasting? It is excluded. By what kind of law? By a law of works? No, but by the law of faith.

You who boast in the law dishonor God by breaking the law.

But if you call yourself a Jew and rely on the law and boast in God

but he who fails to find me injures himself; all who hate me love death.”

Thus they became unclean by their acts, and played the whore in their deeds.

O Lord our God, you answered them; you were a forgiving God to them, but an avenger of their wrongdoings.

All worshipers of images are put to shame, who make their boast in worthless idols; worship him, all you gods!

They pour out their arrogant words; all the evildoers boast.

Those who hate the Lord would cringe toward him, and their fate would last forever.

Why do you boast of evil, O mighty man? The steadfast love of God endures all the day.

those who trust in their wealth and boast of the abundance of their riches?

You say, ‘See, I have struck down Edom,’ and your heart has lifted you up in boastfulness. But now stay at home. Why should you provoke trouble so that you fall, you and Judah with you?”

and repays to their face those who hate him, by destroying them. He will not be slack with one who hates him. He will repay him to his face.

The world cannot hate you, but it hates me because I testify about it that its works are evil.

For the wicked boasts of the desires of his soul, and the one greedy for gain curses and renounces the Lord.

The boastful shall not stand before your eyes; you hate all evildoers.

Whoever plans to do evil will be called a schemer.

For I fear that perhaps when I come I may find you not as I wish, and that you may find me not as you wish—that perhaps there may be quarreling, jealousy, anger, hostility, slander, gossip, conceit, and disorder.

that I may lay hold of the hearts of the house of Israel, who are all estranged from me through their idols.
